What Happens After Love?

Last month I went to Wolf Productions to have my next CD mastered for release later this summer. It consists of remixes from Lisa Moscatiello's WAMMIE winning CD Trouble from the Start. I passed the source material along to some of my favourite electronica artists and am thrilled that Orechiettes stopped by Lisa's gig on Capitol Hill to drop off a mix. O's mixes of "Fixed Star" and "Feel the Love" have been regular staples of my DJ set and you can listen to "What Happens After Love" below.

Brandi Carlile

True confessions: there aren't too many electronica bands I listen to these days, so my mp3 player is filled with the likes of Coldplay, Interpol and PJ Harvey. One "emerging" artist who recently made her way onto my playlist is Brandi Carlile. She has been likened to KD Lang but I think a more apt comparison is Jeff Buckley. ALP vocalist Lisa Moscatiello and I saw Brandi headline last night at the Birchmere. Brandi is still in the "meet-and-greet" phase of her career so we got to pose with her after the show. In the photo above, I am being cock-blocked by Ruthie from Ruthie and the Wranglers. I am glad to see a talented, hard-working musician like Brandi build a following. In fact there were enough women there for several soccer team hazings.

New CD!!

album coverFor the past two years I have had the pleasure and privilege of playing bass with my favourite remix victim Linda Smith in The Window Shoppers. We began in a basement in Northeast Baltimore but ended up in the Flamingo Room recording a 13 song extravaganza entitled "Clear Your Dirt." You can buy it online now. As many of you know I started off playing bass and although I love my midi arsenal I missed the band experience. It is so much more enjoyable this time around because equipment prices have dropped substantially, recording technology has improved, and people my age are so much more mature. In other words, there's less drama and better, cheaper gear. I will keep you posted on when we play out again -- it will probably be at the Lucky Bar.

The Washington Post Express recently asked if there was anyone Sirius Radio *wouldn't* give a show to. Apparanty not, because Ms. Arthur is going to be the guest DJ this coming Saturday Night on a dance mix show called "Saturday Night Out" on Sirius OutQ 106 (Sirius Satellite Radio) . The three hour show will be repeated for several hours into Sunday morning. It begins at: 9 p.m. - 7 a.m. Eastern/6 p.m. - 4 a.m. Pacific.
