The "world debut" of TROUBLED from Arthur Loves Plastic will air on WXPN-FM this Sunday night at 11:30pm Eastern, on Q'zine: a weekly queer arts and culture magazine, hosted by Robert Drake.
Recently I took the plunge and got rid of my keyboard in favor of a midi controller and software synths which has made my living room a lot less cramped. I have been amazed at how many talented people out there are making amazing sounding soft synths at incredibly low prices. One of my favorite synths right now is ProtoPlasmTSM by H.G. Fortune. I recommend getting it bundled with the STS-24 and LaserBlade. The three synths feature a broad range of lush multi-layered sounds with a generous number of excellent presets. They have saved me from the musical doldrums this summer. posted by Bev # 10:56 AM | Perma LinkShareThis 0 comments

Dusty Springfield
Just when I thought I had reached the end of the internet during a bout of "work and surf" I stumbled across the MOTHER LODE of Dusty Springfield videos. Many of them are from Ready, Steady, Go, a largely improvised variety show she hosted on the BBC during the swinging 60's. There are also some L-Word montages (surprise!) and in what I can only view as sacrilege, a video featuring "Wishin and Hopin" covered by Ani Difranco. The version performed with Martha Reeves, where Dusty fails to stifle the giggles, is much better. Below is one of my top 10 Dusty tracks. Crank your speakers!!
