One of the more prolific collaborations I have been involved with is with the Tapegerm Collective, a group of artists who use each others loops for mixes. I usually feature at least a few tapegerm tracks on each release and in turn my loops have appeared on other members’ tracks. Here is the ALP tapegerm page where I post new mixes before they appear on CDs. You can listen to tapegerm mixes below:
Last month I went to Wolf Productions to have my next CD mastered for release later this summer. It consists of remixes from Lisa Moscatiello’s WAMMIE winning CD Trouble from the Start. I passed the source material along to some of my favourite electronica artists and am thrilled that Orechiettes stopped by Lisa’s gig on Capitol Hill to drop off a mix. O’s mixes of “Fixed Star” and “Feel the Love” have been regular staples of my DJ set and you can listen to “What Happens After Love” below.
“The Woman is a Mix,” a double-CD of remixes of the French band Trisomie 21 is now available online. Arthur Loves Plastic represents the USA with 2 remixes. Click here to purchase it for 20 Euros (about $25 USD). Click here for the promotional site where you can hear samples. Everyone who hears Trisomie 21 loves them and you will too!!
Back in the early nineties I was mesmerized at first listen by a French darkwave band called Trisomie 21. However, since this was during those dark days before the internet, I was unable to find their records anywhere.
Much to my surprise I recently received an e-mail from the band’s management announcing the release of a new album and asking if I was interested in doing a remix. I ended up doing a few of them, and the remix CD is out now. More info here. I’ll be spinning one of the remixes at this week’s Girl Friday at Black Cat in DC.
